Unlock rewards on Gleev with the YouTube Partner Programme. Sync your content seamlessly and refer others to join Gleev today!
The YouTube Partner Programme (YPP) is tailored for creators who have established YouTube channels with significant content and subscriber bases. This program is operational within the Gleev.xyz App and managed by JS Genesis, the foundational entity behind the Joystream platform. Its core objective revolves around simplifying the sign-up process for creators and facilitating the synchronization of their existing content with the Gleev channel. Additionally, the program incentivizes creators whose YouTube channels meet specific qualification criteria, including regular content synchronization and referrals of other creators to Gleev.
Signing Up Process
To enroll in the YPP, individuals are required to visit gleev.xyz/ypp and select “sign up with Google,” following the subsequent onboarding flow.
Gleev: https://gleev.xyz/ypp?referrerId=59939
Alternatively, sign-up can be initiated through the YPP dashboard in Gleev Studio, which necessitates channel creation beforehand.
Program Requirements
Creators from diverse niches are encouraged to sign up, as Gleev supports a wide array of content categories. The program is particularly welcoming to authentic creators who consistently produce original content for their YouTube channels, ensuring that their subscriber and view counts are not artificially inflated through bot activity. These requirements may undergo periodic updates, prominently displayed within the app during the sign-up process.
Google Authentication
During the sign-up phase, creators must authorize access to their Google Account linked with their YouTube channel. This authorization grants backend application gleev-creators, operated by JS Genesis, access to crucial information, including:
Email address associated with the Google account connected to the YouTube channel (user.email scope).
User ID for authentication purposes (user.profile scope).
YouTube content information, enabling the fetch of channel metadata and content details, and facilitating the sync service (youtube.readonly scope).
Email, Category, and Referral
Several mandatory fields must be populated in the web input form to progress with the sign-up process:
Contact email
This email serves as a necessary means for notifying participants about reward payouts and program-specific changes. The contact email is pre-populated with the email address linked to the YouTube channel account. For creators with multiple channels, unique emails must be used for each channel connected with YPP.

Unique emails are required for each channel during the YPP sign-up process to prevent duplicate entries.
Referrals

A referral link is provided in the Channel YPP dashboard, which can be shared with potential candidates.
When someone signs up using a referral link, they are recorded in the referrer’s dashboard.

Auto-Sync Service
The auto-sync service developed by the JS Genesis team simplifies content uploads to the Gleev App by integrating with YouTube and Gleev. This dedicated backend application, hosted on JSGenesis infrastructure and operated by the JS Genesis team, streamlines the process of uploading content.
During the authorization flow as part of the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) onboarding, the application requests access to necessary information via the YouTube API. Specifically, it requires the read-only scope for your YouTube channel data. The application fetches only the information exposed by YouTube in this read-only scope, which is essential for effectively operating the program via the open API.
The auto-sync service retrieves the following information:
- Account Info: Email address.
- Channel Info: Name, date created, URL, number of followers, number of comments, number of views, number of videos.
- Videos Info: Video titles, date uploaded, video subtitles.
Users can track the sync status in their creator channel dashboard. Syncing for a channel begins when it reaches the top of the queue, indicated by a place value of 1.
Sync limits
After signing up, each channel is initially allowed to sync up to the 5 latest videos before verification by the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) team is completed and the YPP tier is assigned. Upon verification, additional syncing allowances are provided based on the tier assigned:
- Bronze Tier π₯β: Maximum of 5 videos OR 1 GB.
- Silver Tier π₯β: Maximum of 100 videos OR 10 GB.
- Gold Tier π₯β: Maximum of 250 videos OR 100 GB.
- Diamond Tier π: Maximum of 1000 videos OR 1 TB.
Please note the following constraints:
- The maximum size of a single synced video for any channel is 15 GB.
- The maximum duration of a synced video for any channel is 3 hours.
Legacy rules, which will be deprecated by April 1st, 2024, were based on YouTube subscriber counts and had different limits for channels with subscriber counts below 5k, below 50k, and above 50k.
Videos Polling
The auto-sync service, when enabled, will regularly update channel information and retrieve videos to add to the queue, ensuring that this process occurs at least once every 24 hours. It’s important to note that only public videos will be synchronized, and for the time being, they will be limited to a resolution of 720px or lower. However, as the program evolves, support for HD videos will be implemented.
Initially, subtitles will only be synchronized in English. Support for other languages will be introduced in future updates. The queue prioritization during synchronization follows a proprietary algorithm developed and maintained by the JSGenesis team.
License
The auto-sync service will extract metadata from videos, including title, description, date created, duration, language, and license, and transfer this information to the newly created videos on the creator’s Joystream channel.
If the original YouTube video was licensed under the Standard YouTube License, such videos will be assigned a Joystream license. This limits the replication and usage of such content without the explicit consent of the author.
If the original YouTube video was licensed under Creative Commons, such videos will be assigned a CC0 license. This allows all viewers to distribute the videos freely in the public domain, enabling them to be built upon, enhanced, and reused by others for any purpose without restrictions.
License settings can be manually updated for each video individually from the list of available options.
Opt-Out
To discontinue the automatic synchronization feature, navigate to the settings tab on the YPP (YouTube Partner Program) dashboard and select the “Opt out” option. By opting out, new content published on the YouTube channel will no longer be automatically uploaded.
Additionally, if you choose to opt out of the entire program, you can do so from the settings tab as well. This action will designate the channel as “opted-out” in the internal database, and any payout calculations for activities on this channel will cease.
Existing content that has already been uploaded will remain accessible on the platform, and users retain the option to delete it at any time.
This in-depth overview provides comprehensive insights into the functioning and intricacies of the YouTube Partner Programme, ensuring clarity and guidance for potential participants.
